The very first Arctic Chamber Music Festival will take place from Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th. The opening concert, Masterpieces, is a unique musical meeting between two of Norways greatests soloists, Truls Mørk and Henning Kraggerud.
Together with the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, Mørk and Kraggerud will play pieces by Sibelius, Haydn andTchaikovsky. Expect joy, serenity, melancholy, vigour and virtuosity. This concert received standing ovations from the audience in Tromsø this week, and the critics say:
"The experience of hearing Truls Mørks cello, standing out like a sonic jewel amongst the skilled string-players of the Arctic Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, is alone worth the admission fee" (Nordlys)
Now, the audience of Longyearbyen can prepare themselves to hear Haydn, one of the world’s best known composers from the classical period. Haydn is often referred to as "the father of the symphony", and his "concerto" for cello and orchestra will be performed by the world renowned Norwegian cellist, Truls Mørk.
This concert will make the start on 4 days of classical music at Svalbard.
Tickets still available, both online and on site.
